Those are all good questions as they are universal to fiction writing and sometimes even to other disciplines.īook recommendation threads should be limited to asking for nonfiction writing resources or channels, rather than comparative titles in a particular genre or featuring a particular scene. You can ask about structural techniques, dialogue vs narration, using pov effectively in general and so on. We cannot determine what POV or tense you should write in. It is your responsibility as the writer to come up with details of plot, character, character motivation, setting and magic/technological systems, mystery details, the beginning and ending to your story, and any other specific content direction. If your question invites answers that are specific to your work alone, it is a better fit for our brainstorming thread. We ask that users frame their questions so they are useful to more than one person. We are not a place to talk extensively about the content of your work. Requests for critique and writing partners may only be posted in the critique thread or the stickied daily threads.
Critique requests include soliciting feedback on ideas, queries, 'what should I write about X', etc. Samples of writing and critique requests may only be posted in the weekly self-promotion and critique thread. The moderators do reserve the right to remove posts/comments that are deemed harmful without warning and ban users depending on the severity of the infraction.
